Pour commémorer les 45 ans d’existence de sa galerie, Albert Baronian a le plaisir de vous présenter, à la Fondation CAB, une exposition collective intitulée Shaping Light autour du thème du néon. Shaping Light illustre les différentes manières dont les artistes présentés s’emparent du néon pour donner forme à la lumière.
Le parcours proposé par l’exposition est subjectif et non-exhaustif. Il met en exergue les différentes utilisations du néon dans l’art et confronte des oeuvres historiques avec celles d’artistes contemporains qui utilisent le matériau dans certains aspects de leur pratique. Les plasticiens subliment les tubes luminescents, qui servaient à l’origine de support publicitaire et font aujourd’hui partie intégrante de notre quotidien, pour mettre en avant leurs approches conceptuelles, linguistiques, spatiales, abstraites voire figuratives.

Ter gelegenheid van het 45-jarig jubileum van zijn galerij, presenteert Albert Baronian Shaping Light bij Fondation CAB, een groepstentoonstelling die neon als medium onderzoekt. Shaping Light illustreert de verschillende manieren waarop de gepresenteerde kunstenaars neon aanwenden om vorm te geven aan licht.
De samenstelling van de werken in de tentoonstelling is subjectief en pretendeert evenmin exhaustief te zijn. In plaats daarvan worden diverse artistieke expressies met neon belicht, en worden historische werken in dialoog gebracht met hedendaagse kunstenaars die met deze materie werken. Origineel geïntroduceerd als materiaal voor reclameborden, zijn de lichtgevende buizen alomtegenwoordig aanwezig in ons dagelijkse leven. Shaping Light brengt artistieke uitingen samen die neon conceptueel, linguïstisch, ruimtelijk, abstract en zelfs figuratief benaderen.

To celebrate his gallery’s 45 anniversary, Albert Baronian presents Shaping Light at Fondation CAB, a group exhibition exploring neon as an artistic medium. Shaping Light illustrates the different ways in which the participating artists work with neon to shape light.
The selection of works exhibited is subjectiverather than exhaustive. Various artistic movements are covered in the show, creating a dialog between historical and contemporary artworks. Originally introduced in advertising, the luminous tubes known as neon have become omnipresent in our daily lives. Shaping Light brings together artists who use neon to highlight their conceptual, linguistic, spatial, abstract and figurative practices.
